Liner had an interesting suggestion for a paper topic: hmmm. I wonder if my tutor would be up for me researching such 'words'. The paper I just finished was an attempt to define 'word', 'morpheme', and 'allomorph' and explain why it is difficult to do so across languages. I think I got satisfactory definitions, and demonstrated that it was difficult, but I'm not sure if I really descriptively did the later or if I just managed to live out the later.
Maybe she will think I am being genius and stylistic. Ha! (ooo, another good set of words to investigate along with hmmm.)
In other news, I attended an interesting lecture this evening where the Dr spoke on Christian Imagination. More specifically he spoke on Christ as Imagination. Now, before any of yall get to concerned (or excited), and think this is saying Christ is imaginary, he believes quite the opposite. Rather, he worked from the idea in John 1:9 where Christ, the Logos, is seen as the light 'which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." In this aspect he is the "Unchangeable Light" which St Augustine "with the eye of [his] soul (such as it was) saw above the same eye of [his] soul, above [his] mind" (Ch10, Confessions). He also connected this concept through the works of Shakespeare, Coleridge, Dante, and Paul to give a sense of Christ as the... for lack of a better term...as the imagination or intuition that brings illumination to the individual. He stressed the classical understanding of Reason, which included in it an aspect of intuition which would 'teach' the soul truth. He also pointed out in Augustine's "On Teaching" how, as it says in Scripture "there is one in heaven who is the teacher of all" and that it is "He Himself [who] will teach us, who has also counselled us through the instrumentality of human beings--by signs, and externally--to turn to Him internally and be instructed. He will teach us, to know and love whom is happiness of life"(Ch 14).
I do not do his lecture justice, it was one of the most fascinating Christological and epistemological discourses I have ever been priveledged enough to listen to.
